About Me:
My name is Idan. It rhymes with Yvonne in case you aren't sure how to pronounce it. Mom's from Haifa, Israel and Pop's from Moscow, Russia so they gave me a Hebrew name which means "long life and fountain of youth". As a kid I really wanted everyone to call me Scott or David, something the teachers wouldn't butcher during roll call, but as I got older I learned to like my name and understand why I have it. My spirit is young and I am full of dreams. They say the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree and so it was no coincidence that the stars aligned just right and I connected with my good friends and colleagues at Niche Click. Saïd, Mike, Darren and I are dreamers. We are inquisitive, active and fueled by our passions and love what we do. Everyday is fun and brings with it a new journey and discovery. I haven't changed much since those elementary school days, except that instead of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, I take a protein shake to work…lol
Hobbies:
I started taking drum lessons a short time ago. One day, I may just be the next Tommy Lee sans Pamela. Also, when I have some free time I enjoy working with basketball players on their conditioning and basketball skills (shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, scoring, etc). I have had the chance to work with some fun and interesting players...I have some good stories so remind me to tell you when we meet…lol
Movies:
Shawshank Redemption, The Shining, Usual Suspects, Halloween
Music:
I like everything…mmm…maybe not everything…no 80's glam rock for me
Books:
Life of Pi, Alchemist, Little Prince
Something else that you didn't know about me:
I am notorious for embarrassing myself. Case in point, I was working in Brazil for a few months. One afternoon I was swimming at Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro. After a couple hours, I decided to head over to a local diner for a bite to eat. In my best broken Portuguese, I asked the waiter if he had a menu in English. He replied that he didn't. I flipped through the menu. I couldn't understand much of what was written. The dessert section included tiny photos so I decided to make life easier and ordered a dessert. Thirty minutes later I was still waiting on my order. I heard many of the children in the front of the diner clapping their hands in unison. It caught my attention and so I wondered what was going on. The clapping continued for 30 more seconds. I figured someone was having their birthday so I leaned over the banister to take a look. I saw my waiter carrying an enormous cake which included hundreds of candles and sparklers. It looked like someone was celebrating their 100th birthday. "That's cool," I thought to myself. All of a sudden, the waiter made eye contact with me. My heart sunk. "Holy Crap!" I thought. The waiter proceeded to carry the behemoth of a birthday cake to my table and set before me.
The entire diner went silent. They thought I was celebrating my birthday alone. I couldn't blow out the sparklers and candles. There were too many candles for my lungs to handle and the flame from the sparklers had already caught everyone's attention. All eyes at the diner were on me. I didn't know what to do or what to say. I couldn't speak Portuguese. I put my head down and started to eat a few bites of the massive cake. I reached into my wallet and took out all the money I had. I left. One of those days…
